Feast or famine. That's how the life of an emerging writer sometimes feels. Months go by without much activity, and then all of a sudden you hit a stretch where everything just takes off.
Over the past month or so, following a somewhat quiet winter, my work has appeared in the second issue of Blight Digest, a great new imprint from One Eye Press featuring horror in its finest form. I've always loved magazines that cater to the short story market, particularly those that follow my chosen genre. My story, "The Door", is a suspenseful piece set in a dark, musty basement with an unusual secret.
Then there's Twice Upon a Time, a collection of reworked fairy tales that I've been eagerly anticipating for quite a while. This is the first release from the Bearded Scribe Press, a wonderful publisher that I look forward to working with again in the future. "The Leatherworker's Deal" is my take on "The Elves and the Shoemaker", with a much more sinister twist.
And now, as of this week comes the pre-order stage of Dreamscapes into Darkness, the latest from Firbolg Publishing's "Enter At Your Own Risk" series. I'm excited about this one too, and having read the pre-release copy I have to say I'm thrilled to be included in such a great anthology. "Lead Us Not Into Temptation" delves into uncomfortable territory, not for the squeamish!
